My Chocolate Indulgence

Posted by Amy Beekley in Untagged

Today is Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A.  Today also happens to be the day that I decided I was worthy of my occasional favorite treat.  With $3.07 in hand, I made my way over to Chick-fil-A for a chocolate milkshake.  Although the restaurant was mobbed for lunch time, I saw no customers dressed like cows.

So, my two questions for you are:

  • What is your occasional

I don't know what is wrong with me, but I enjoy doing these things.  And as fun as it is to share and learn these little nuances about someone, don't be fooled, there is very little revealed about me in this post.

Favorite Local Parks

My exercise plan, my plan to spend quality time with my kids in the evening, my mental health plan all revolve around spending time outside after work.  After sitting at my desk most of the workday, nothing feels better than the sunshine and a cool breeze.  While my favorite evening activity is a walk with my little one in the stroller, my older son riding his bike ahead of me, and

The Free Go-Anywhere Entertainment

Who needs toys when we all know that kids would rather play with the box.  The best drum set takes up no additional closet space because a wooden spoon and a pot fit right back into the kitchen cabinets.  And isn't it better to give our kids numerous opportunities to expand their imaginations when it would be just as easy to sit in front of the television all day?

Our Grand Tour of Philadelphia

Posted by Amy Beekley in hospitalHeros4th of July

We were so excited to spend the Fourth of July together as a family in Philadelphia.  The city puts on holiday events all weekend from the ringing of the Liberty Bell to a parade and two nights of fire works.  As my husband perused the newspaper this morning to plan our day I cleaned the boys up in the bathtub.  My four year old climbed out of the bathtub as I chased after his younger

Are you a good driver?

Posted by Amy Beekley in trips4th of July

I've heard it said that women are terrible drivers.  Usually, it is a man making this assertion, confident in his own ability to navigate the highways.  When my husband and I drive somewhere together, guess who is in the drivers seat?  My husband.

We are spending the 4th of July in Philadelphia this year.  My husband has spent the last week in Philly for a summer

Books for Working Moms/Dads-to-Be

Gloria Steinem and I would not agree on too many topics of conversation, but I do credit the feminist movement in the United States with unveiling many unfair media representations of American women.  Among them, I have a beef with the way that working mothers, and beyond that working parents are portrayed in the media.  Have you ever noticed how working parents on sitcoms seems

One SIMPLE Strategy to Deal with all the Why Questions

Posted by Amy Beekley in talking

When my first son was one-year old, he babbled appropriately but did not even use the words Mama and Dadda in context so we took him to have his hearing tested.  By eighteen months he still had not uttered his first word so we had him evaluated by a speech and language pathologist.  By two years of age, my son had mastered the fine art of conversation and much of the English language!
