Back to the grind.

Posted by Dani Gurrie in vacationbeachback to work

What a month - I have been going non-stop - especially leading up to the wonderful July 4th event at Crumland Farms. Immediately after that event, I drove down to South Carolina to spend a few days with my kids and my Mom. Although it was a bit relaxing, driving down there, spending two nights and driving home was tiring. The day after I got back - I unpacked that trip and started packing for a

Ten Years Ago

Wedding1.jpgIt was a beautiful, hot summer's day in Frederick. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express with my mom, my little sister and my good friend Licia from San Diego. I went to get my hair done and forgot my veil! (Probably one of the only hiccups on the day!)

Posted by Dani Gurrie in memoriesAshley10 year anniversary

It's funny...it's not until you look back that you sometimes see so clearly the future.

Ash_Dani_Anaheim.jpgThat 14-day trip around the western part of the US definitely gave us an amazing start to our journey. Here are more memories:

Marriage - 10 years in the making

Posted by Dani Gurrie in marriageanniversary

I was at a wedding last night. Attending nuptials always brings back memories of my own wedding and then it makes me wonder where the time has gone...and in truth, to be inspired by how far Ashley and I have come.

I thought that since Ashley and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary on Friday this would be the perfect week to recount some of the memories of our past together.

We made it through the longest day ever

Posted by Dani Gurrie in summerCooperBirthdaysAshley

Okay, check the calendars - June 22nd today. School has officially been out for just a bit over a week (and don't think I am not counting down the days until August 23rd!!) and I have heard "I'm bored" more times than I care to count. "Auntie" is visiting from Australia (not to be confused with Aunt Flo - hee hee) and she has been SO extremely helpful

"Mom, I'm Bored!"

I don't know about you, but I am already dreading these words...only 1 week left before I know I am going to hear them for the first time...and I am starting to panic. And I think other parents are starting to panic as well - because every where I go, the first thing I am asked "Hey, what are you going to do with the kids this summer??" And although

Helping your child find a love for reading.

Posted by Dani Gurrie in readingchildren

Once you've gotten past all the hard work of supporting your child through the learning-to-read years, it can come as a shock to many parents that their child shows no desire to put his new reading skills to good use by picking up a book.

Whether it's lack of confidence or a difficulty finding a book that interests them, many children can become reluctant readers once able to read

The Carnival is in Town!!

Posted by Dani Gurrie in carnival schedule

Well not the cheapest entertainment for families - but nonetheless for most of us attending at least 1 carnival a summer is a tradition that can be passed onto your children.

You'll find below a list of carnivals in the area...but first, let's help you to save some cash before you head out.

One surefire place you spend money is on food. And while enjoying cotton candy or a funnel

Summer - just around the corner

Posted by Dani Gurrie in summersuggestionsfree things to do

I saw my first lightning bug the other night...to me, that is the first sign of summer. I am looking forward to the next few months. I say that now as kids are still in school, mind you!!

I am trying to plan as many fun activities as I can - knowing full well that bored children will drive me crazy!

I am going to try to list as many free (or close to free) things to do in and around
